We resolved the relationships between 2 pandemic clones of Vibrio cholerae. Using 26 housekeeping genes, we showed that the US Gulf clone, the Australian clone, and 3 El Tor strains isolated before the seventh pandemic were related to the seventh pandemic clone. The sixth pandemic clone was well separated from them.
متن کاملChemotaxis in Vibrio cholerae.
The ability of motile bacteria to swim toward or away from specific environmental stimuli, such as nutrients, oxygen, or light provides cells with a survival advantage, especially under nutrient-limiting conditions. This behavior, called chemotaxis, is mediated by the bacteria changing direction by briefly reversing the direction of rotation of the flagellar motors. A sophisticated signal trans...

Taken together, these studies indicate that a mature form of VirG, probably lacking a carboxyterminal portion, can interact with F-actin. Recently, we have used antibody that recognizes the aminoterminal but not the carboxyterminal portion of VirG to detect secreted VirG and F-actin-associated VirG in intracellular bacteria, and the results from these studies further support this view. If the c...
